I took this slightly out of focus photo in Berkeley, California. It is a large female tree, loaded with juniper berries, and is perfectly pollen-free. Juniperus virginiana is native to the Southern and Southeastern parts of the United States. It is almost always dioecious, separate sexed. These trees are often called Red Cedar, however they are junipers, not true Cedars. Large female junipers like this tree can clean millions of grains of highly allergenic pollen from the air each season. Very valuable tree!
